*CFP* "USER-GENERATED CONTENT IN MODERN COMMUNICATION", INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH-TO-PRACTICE 2020 CONFERENCE

User-Generated Content in Modern Communication
The 1st International Research-to-Practical Conference
April 22-23, 2021
 

The Faculty of Journalism of Chelyabinsk State University announces the International Research-to-Practice Conference User-Generated Content in Modern Communication. The conference is dedicated to user-generated content (UGC), its major platforms (YouTube, Instagram, VK and others), users’ comments, amateur journalism and other forms of communication that emerge in a non-institutional communicative environment.

  • Impact of UGC on professional journalism
  • the user-generated content effect on principles, techniques, strategies and tactics of the professional news desks;
  • amateur journalism challenge to the industry: de-professionalization in the field of news and analytical content creation;
  • news and UGC: establishment of the agenda, changing priorities in news feed, the impact of UGC style on news standards;
  • reality and simulacra in foreign and Russian media in the post-truth era;
  • fact-checking and user-generated content (authenticity and fake in user-generated content).
Communication in a new media reality
  • genres of network communication;
  • online intolerance:  user-generated content manifestation and role;
  • user content in Internet communications;
  • visual practices in custom content;
  • fandoms, cosplays, sports fan communities and other manifestations of fan culture.

The expansion of the topics connected with user-generated content is encouraged.

Specialists of journalism and mass communications, advertising and PR, media communications, sociology, cultural studies, philosophy, pedagogy, philology, psychology, anthropology, representatives of technical specialties, researchers of the Internet, programmers, economists and all those who interested in discussing the outlined issues are kindly welcomed to participate and cooperate.

The organizing committee is looking for attention to the conference from practitioners and specialists in the field of online technologies.

The organizing committee does not practice discrimination based on age, academic credentials, departmental affiliation and employment of conference participants. The only criterion for participation is a high-quality application that will undergo peer review and be approved (see Appendices). Therefore, we ask you to pay special attention to the theses of the report in the application.

Deadline for application is January 20, 2021. Please send applications by e-mail: konf_jourcsu@mail.ru.

All abstracts approved during the review process will be published as a collection of articles (indexed by the RSCI) and included in the conference program. Authors of approved applications will be invited to send the full text of the article for posting (optionally) on the Web of Science platform, in the scientific journals Znak: problemnoe pole mediaobrazovanija (certified by State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles), Mediasreda (indexed by the RSCI), Chelyabinskij Gumanitarij (indexed by the RSCI). The conditions and procedure for publication will be specified in subsequent information letters after the deadline for applications.

The conference takes place both online and offline. Absentee participation is not provided.

Theses Report (please follow the format strictly):
  • Surname First name (in full) Patronymic (if any), academic degree (if any), academic title (if any), position, place of work or study, full name of the university or organization WITHOUT departmental affiliation (instead of FSBEI of HET Chelyabinsk State University or Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education Chelyabinsk State University, please, indicate Chelyabinsk State University), email address (do not put full stop after the email address)
  • Research funding source (if any) - format is applied as required by the funding fund.
  • SUBJECT OF THE REPORT (in capital letters, do not put a full stop after the title)
  • Keywords: 5-7 keywords or phrases, comma is the separator; a full stop is put at the end).
  • Abstract (extended abstract of the report) is not less than 500 words and not more than 1000 words. The abstract should clearly describe the content of the report. What subject and object and under what aspect will be considered. Please avoid general phrases in the theses that are not related to a specific scientific or practical issue, which will be discussed in the report. It is desirable to briefly indicate the methods and theoretical approaches and explain what the essence of the research is, name the most significant conclusions obtained. At the end of the abstract, at least one and no more than five scientific sources should be included. Only those that are significant for the author. Any sources of journalistic and other materials considered in the report indicate directly in the text of the abstract in parentheses. References should be given at the end of the article like in this example - [1. C. 3-4].

References are made in accordance with Russian Nationwide standard-2008 the following way:
  1. Surname Name (only the first letter with a full stop) Patronymic (if any, only the first letter with a full stop). Title of the book. City: Publisher, year.
  2. Surname Name (only the first letter with a full stop) Patronymic (if any, only the first letter with a full stop). Title of the article in the journal // Title of the journal. No. Х. P. ХХ – ХХ.
  3. Surname Name (only the first letter with a full stop). Patronymic (if any, only the first letter with a full stop). The title of the online publication. URL: http… xxxxxxxxxxxxx (date of access: хх.хх.хххх).
