Chapters will include current indigenous research across disciplines for
critical inquiry of land cultures and/or of the constructs of land as self,
land as agency, self, and/or spirt. Researchers using self-as-subject and
arts-based research methods would be encouraged to explore recurrent
generational implications and ongoing challenges with land dispossession,
relocation, reacquisition, governmental influences, and economic impacts to
contemporary indigenous land cultures. Land tenure, voice and land
dispossession, freedom as ownership, and the culture of self and spiritual
development amid land cultures align with the text focus and may include land
dispossession as part of the African diaspora, aboriginal communities, First
Nations, and Native American communities. Specific chapters are requested from
the perspectives of critical, feminist/intersectional, or heuristic
perspectives.
This objective of this handbook is to offer a multi- and
interdisciplinary approach to current indigenous research focused on land,
self, and/or spirit. The goal of this text is to disseminate current indigenous
research across universities and libraries internationally and reach those
engaging in continued research into these constructs within and across global
indigenous research.
Scholars, researchers, and practitioners will be considered as potential
chapter contributors and should primarily examine and consider the recommended
topics to ensure adequate consideration. Research into these recommended topics
continue to emerge as well as attention to current sociocultural and political
attention to this research has evolved into the current century as well as
exploration of the legacy of acculturation and assimilation of land cultures.
Doctoral dissertation researchers are also encouraged to submit chapter
proposals aligned with the recommended topics.
